PM Oli inaugurates National Pride Project- Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project
July 29, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project, a national pride initiative, in Kailali district. The ceremony marked the launch of the first phase, covering 14,300 hectares of irrigation facilities and a 4.71-megawatt hydropower and transmission line project.
On the same day, Prime Minister Oli inspected the main intake of the project located at Karnali Chisapani. The event was attended by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka, and other dignitaries.
The project aims to provide year-round irrigation to 38,300 hectares of arable land in southeastern Kailali. The first phase has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 27.70 billion. The second phase of the project is targeted for completion in the fiscal year 2085/86 (2028/29). Currently, the project irrigates 14,300 hectares and generates 4.71 megawatts of electricity.
The project has achieved 74.76% physical progress and 69.55% financial progress. Farmers in Kailali are delighted with the completion of this significant irrigation project, which promises to boost agricultural productivity in the region.
