Chinese company approved to establish buffalo meat processing industry in Nepal: PM Oli
July 28, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that Chengdu Jian Food Company, a Chinese firm, has been approved to establish a buffalo meat processing industry in Nepal.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Oli stated that the company, based in Sichuan Province, China, received approval from the Department of Industry to set up the processing plant in Marin Rural Municipality-4, Sindhuli, with a foreign direct investment of Rs 20 billion.
“Following the agreement during my China visit last December, Chengdu Jian Food Company has been approved by the Department of Industry for an Rs 20 billion foreign direct investment to establish a buffalo meat processing industry in Marin-4, Sindhuli,” PM Oli wrote. “The industry will produce 200,000 metric tons of meat annually and 55,000 metric tons of by-products (hide, internal organs, head). This will be significant for exports and job creation.”
PM Oli further noted that the company is expected to employ 5,156 people and export meat worth approximately Rs150 billion annually to China.
