July 26, Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, participated in the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum 2025 held in Beijing on July 24-25. The conference, themed “New Future of Health Industry: Driven by Innovation,” focused on advancing health systems through technology and collaboration.

In the plenary session, Paudel emphasised that modern technology can lower costs, enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve health system management, and expand care to underserved communities. He highlighted Nepal’s commitment to digital health transformation through its National Digital Health Strategy and called for stronger international collaboration in knowledge exchange and capacity building to ensure equitable technology access.

Minister Paudel also joined a panel discussion on addressing climate change for global health. He underscored the urgent need to recognise climate-induced health risks, noting shifts in disease patterns due to environmental changes. He outlined Nepal’s preparedness efforts, including its National Adaptation Plan within recent Nationally Determined Contributions.

On the sidelines, Paudel met with Shen Hongbin, Director of China’s National Disease Control and Prevention Administration. They discussed Nepal-China health cooperation, focusing on Chinese support for a vector-borne diseases research centre in Hetauda and a neuro treatment centre in government hospitals. Both sides agreed to deepen bilateral health sector ties.

Minister Paudel also engaged with the Nepali community in Beijing, encouraging them to apply their knowledge and skills to contribute to Nepal’s development.
