Five Nepali nationals jailed in Iran return home

Kathmandu: Five Nepali nationals who were imprisoned in Iran for various reasons have returned home.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Nepali nationals were repatriated following Iran’s Court order to release them.

They were taken back to their home country with the help of the Tehran-based Nepali Consulate General and the International Organisation for Migration, the ministry informed.

Earlier, nine Nepali nationals were repatriated from Iran with support from the Indian government on different dates.

It has been possible to repatriate Nepalis from Iran with the law and order situation there turning normal following the ceasefire between Israel and Iran on 23 June 2025, the foreign ministry added.

The government has extended thanks to all for demonstrating support, initiative and benevolence in the process.
