Government updates on timely evacuations during Israel-Iran conflict

July 25, Kathmandu: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released an update regarding the recent Israel-Iran conflict, which erupted on June 13 and concluded with a ceasefire on June 23.

With stability slowly returning to the region, the government in the statement said it has been actively managing the safety of its citizens abroad.

The Ministry issued travel advisories and collected emergency contacts to safeguard Nepali nationals, maintaining close coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Doha and the Honorary Consulate in Tehran during the conflict.

In a remarkable effort, Nepal, with support from India’s ‘Operation Sindhu,’ successfully evacuated nine Nepali citizens in three batches via Indian flights, who have now safely returned home through land routes from India.

In a further development, five Nepali citizens detained in an Iranian prison were released following a court order and arrived back in Kathmandu on July 24, 2025, thanks to the efforts of the Honorary Consulate in Tehran and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

The Ministry expressed deep gratitude to the governments of India, local authorities, the Honorary Consulate, the IOM, and the media for their unwavering support.
