PM Oli pays heartfelt tribute to Pushpalal Shrestha on 47th Memorial Day
July 23, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed profound respect for Pushpalal Shrestha, the founding general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), on his 47th memorial day.
In a heartfelt social media post, PM Oli wrote, “Today, we honour Comrade Pushpalal, the founding general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal. My deepest respects and tributes to the revered leader!”
Communist parties across Nepal are commemorating Pushpalal’s legacy with various programs highlighting his contributions to the nation’s political landscape.
Born on June 29, 1924 (15 Asad 1981 BS) in Bhangeri, Ramechhap, Pushpalal was a pioneering figure who translated the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels into Nepali, laying the ideological foundation for communism in Nepal.
Under Pushpalal’s leadership, the CPN was established on April 22, 1949 (10 Baisakh 2006 BS). He served as its founding general secretary until his passing on July 22, 1978 (7 Shrawan 2035 BS).
