Bangladesh defeats Nepal to win the SAFF U-20 women’s championship
Kathmandu, July 21: Bangladesh has won the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship. Mosmat Sagorika’s outstanding performance led Bangladesh to victory in the tournament.
In the final match held today at Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings Arena stadium, Bangladesh defeated Nepal 4-0 to claim the title. Bangladesh won the championship undefeated, earning 18 points from six matches, while Nepal, having played the same number of matches, secured only 12 points.
This is the second time Bangladesh has defeated Nepal in the tournament. In the first match, Bangladesh secured a 3-2 victory with a goal in the final seconds of injury time. Bangladesh has also won the 2023 edition of the tournament.
Sagorika scored the first goal in the eighth minute of the game. She then doubled her team’s lead in the 52nd minute. Just six minutes later, she completed a hat-trick and scored her fourth goal in the 78th minute.
