July 17, Kathmandu: The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Kathmandu hosted an “Economic Promotional Event on Invest in Emirates” on Thursday in Kathmandu, aiming to deepen economic ties between the UAE and Nepal.

The event gathered business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to explore collaboration opportunities. During the event, UAE’s Ambassador to Nepal Abdulla  Al Shamsi stated that resolving challenges like double taxation, bilateral trade agreements, and other pending agreements could significantly boost UAE investments in Nepal.

He also emphasised the longstanding and friendly relations based on mutual respect, highlighting significant progress in diplomatic, cultural, and economic collaborations, and described the event as a step toward expanding shared economic connections and sustainable development.

Likewise, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, highlighted Nepal’s conducive investment climate, attributing it to the stable government and the Prime Minister’s leadership in attracting investments.

Pawan Agrawal, President of the Nepal UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NUAECCI), proposed UAE investments in Nepal’s tourism, energy, and agriculture sectors, suggesting skill stations to enhance Nepali workforce skills and outsourcing IT services to Nepal due to cost advantages.

The event included a technical session with a video presentation on the UAE’s economic transformation, a presentation on “Investment in the UAE” by the UAE Embassy, and another presentation regarding “Potential Investment Opportunity in Nepal” by NUAECCI.
