Ministers address budget queries as opposition disrupts parliament over visa probe demands

June 23, Kathmandu: Ministers from various ministries are responding to questions raised during group discussions on the appropriation headings under the Appropriation Bill 2025 in today’s session of the House of Representatives. However, the session is being held amid protests by opposition parties, the Rastriya Swatantra Party  (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

As soon as the meeting began, RSP lawmakers stood in protest, prompting Speaker Devraj Ghimire to allocate speaking time to MP Shiva Nepali. Addressing the House, MP Nepali demanded the formation of a high-level parliamentary investigation committee or a judicial commission to probe the visit visa controversy.

Stating that their protests would continue until their demands were addressed, RPP lawmakers boycotted the session and walked out. Similarly, RPP lawmakers also boycotted the meeting and exited.

During the session, Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka, responding to questions related to his ministry, stated that significant plans and programs have been formulated to make substantial progress in the energy sector.

The process of ministers addressing questions in the House of Representatives is ongoing.
