Nepalis stranded in Iran to be evacuated with assistance from Indian government

Kathmandu: The Indian government will assist in rescuing Nepali citizens stranded in Iran amid the Israel-Iran conflict. Following a request from Nepal, the Indian Embassy in Iran has agreed to help evacuate 16 Nepalis stuck in the country.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba said she had asked the Indian government, through Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, to include Nepalis in their rescue operations. Nepali Ambassador to India Dr. Shankar Sharma has been coordinating closely with Indian officials.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted Nepalis in Iran, urging them to reach out to the Indian Embassy, which has also issued a public notice. Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri confirmed ongoing coordination with the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy, Rakhi Mayuri.

Efforts are also underway to secure the release and repatriation of five Nepalis currently detained in Iranian prisons due to immigration issues.
