Bailey bridge collapses, injuring six with four critical
Panchthar: Six workers were injured when an under-construction Bailey bridge over the Hewa River along the Mechi Highway in Panchthar caved in on Saturday.
According to police, among them, four have sustained severe injuries.
The modular bridge with around 70 meters collapsed on Saturday evening while it was being fixed towards Hilihang rural municipality, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki, the Chief of the District Police Office.
According to him, those critically injured in the accident are Rupalal Chaudhary, 22, Rajan Chaudhary, 27, Rakesh Chaudhary, 22 and Bhuleshwar Chaudhary, 25. They are all from Simara Sub-metropolis-12 in Bara district. The others injured are Prakash Chaudhary, 35, and Abhishek Chaudhary, 30.
The injured are receiving treatment at Panchthar District Hospital, police said. According to locals, the issue of overload led to the incident.
