‘UML-NC collaboration essential’
Kathmandu: Deputy General Secretary of the CPN UML, Pradip Gyawali, has said collaboration between UML and Nepali Congress is imperative for political stability and development in the country.
The two-party partnership is for the broader welfare of the country, although the UML and NC are competitors, he said while inaugurating the third national conference of the Progressive and Professional Legal Practitioners’ Organisation in the federal capital on Saturday.
‘NC and UML are major stakeholders of democracy, so we exercise both competition and cooperation,’ Gyawali reiterated. He claimed that since the formation of the present government led by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, the private sector has regained hope and development activities have gained pace.
On a different note, he said the amendment of the constitution is necessary. Unity among leftist parties is also awaited, Gyawali stressed. Chief of Election Commission in UML, Bijay Subba, spoke about the need to make elections competitive as per democratic norms.
Similarly, the party cadres can play a constructive role to restore trust in the judiciary, according to UML standing committee member Bhanubhakta Dhakal. Chairman of the Organisation, Bhojraj Acharya, informed that they were extending support to the party on legal issues.
