Minister Gurung expresses optimism over House deadlock resolution
Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the ongoing deadlock in the House of Representatives is likely to end soon.
Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, he stated that discussions are underway to form a parliamentary investigation committee, which could help resolve the impasse. He also remarked that it would be inappropriate for the Home Minister to resign over the issue.
Minister Gurung informed that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has already begun investigating a government employee in connection with the visit visa case, and said more details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
Presenting the decisions made during the Council of Ministers meeting held on 26th Jestha, Gurung said the government has approved the Third Amendment to the Nepal Quality Certification Mark Regulation 2082 BS.
Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the principles for drafting a bill to amend and unify laws related to the construction industry, and a separate bill for the protection of ancient monuments.
The cabinet also approved various high-level official visits. Furthermore, administrative changes were made to the centers of two local governments. The center of Mahalaxmi Municipality in Lalitpur has been relocated from Kamalpokhari in Ward No. 4 to Lubhu Devisthan in Ward No. 8.
Similarly, the center of Shantinagar Rural Municipality in Dang has been moved from Chiraghat in Ward No. 4 to Jumlekula, also in Ward No. 4. Minister Gurung concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to resolving political issues and implementing key reforms.
