Monsoon-5 disaster management exercise held in Dolakha

June 11, Kathmandu: With the monsoon season heightening risks across Dolakha, a disaster management exercise, Monsoon-5, was organised in Charikot to bolster preparedness.
Conducted by the Garud Battalion Charikot, the program involved collaboration from the District Administration Office, District Police Office, Armed Police Force No. 18, Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal Scouts, Tripura Scout Troop, and National Service Team Tripura. The exercise showcased response techniques for road accidents, floods, landslides, and river rescues.
The event saw 170 participants, including 72 from the Garud Battalion, 34 from the Armed Police, 14 from Nepal Police, 22 NCC cadets from Tripura Academy Boarding School, and residents.
Chaired by Garud Battalion Chief Lt. Col. Suraj Basnyat, the program featured insights on disaster management from Bhimeshwor Municipality Mayor Ishwar Narayan Manandhar, Jiri Municipality Mayor Mitra Jirel, Melung Rural Municipality Chairman Hirakumar Thokar, Bigu Rural Municipality Chairman Sanjeev Oli, Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal, District Police Chief DSP Gyan Kumar Mahato, and Armed Police DSP Shambhu Bikram Shah.
