Government forms dialogue committee to address transport operators’ protests over ride-sharing rules in Gandaki Province
June 2, Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has established a dialogue committee to negotiate with transport operators protesting against the ride-sharing regulations introduced by the Gandaki Province government.
The decision follows a nationwide public transport shutdown initiated by eight transport-related organisations.
A meeting held on Monday at the Home Ministry, attended by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and other stakeholders, resulted in the formation of the committee, led by a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
According to Home Ministry spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari, the committee comprises eight government representatives from various ministries and four members from the transport operators and workers’ groups. The talks aim to resolve the ongoing strike and address the operators’ demands regarding the controversial ride-sharing rules.
