Dhampus being connected to upgraded road network

Kaski, June 2: Dhampus, a tourist village in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-7 of Kaski district, is to be connected to the blacktopped road network.

The work for upgrading the 13-km road from Hemja Ghattekhola to Dhampus via Khanigaun along the Mid-Hill Highway has begun. The Gandaki Province government has started the road upgradation under the Rural Connectivity Improvement Project (RCIP) for Rs 301.9 million.

RCIP Project Pokhara chief Laxmi Bhandari informed that a contract was signed with the contractor company last March to complete the road construction within the next two years. The company has currently begun upgrading the road from Khanigaun.

Machapuchhre-7 ward chair Baikunth Prasad Bhandari said that all 10 settlements in Dhampus will benefit from the road upgrade.

He mentioned that now the road has connected the border of the tourist village, Lwang, in Machapuchhre-8, and it will be easier to reach the municipality center and Pokhara market via Lwang and Khorakumukh with the completion of construction of a two-kilometer road from Lwang.
