Public transport halts across the country; passengers endure
Kathmandu, 2nd June: In protest of their demands, transport entrepreneurs have closed public transport across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, since today.
The impacts of the shutdown have been evident since the morning.
Public activities have been disrupted as most public transport services are not operating within the Kathmandu Valley. While a few vehicles are functioning in limited areas, public transportation is largely halted.
The shutdown has caused significant inconvenience for the public due to the lack of transport options. Students and workers heading out in the morning have been compelled to wait long periods at bus stops for their rides. Some individuals have been observed walking along the roads to reach their destinations.
Transport operators have presented requests to the government, which include fare modifications, an evaluation of the traffic fine system, and reforms to create more favorable policies for businesses.
