Continue clean Sagarmatha campaign: PM Oli
Kathmandu, May 29: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the campaign to keep Sagarmatha clean needs continuity.
In his address to the 72nd International Sagarmatha Day celebration function here Thursday, PM Oli viewed that existing legal provisions could be amended for the garbage management in the Sagarmatha region. Government is doing homework to this end, he added.
Polluters need to pay, he said, adding that even a bill has been tabled at the National Assembly regarding this. The bill could, however, be made effective after discussing with diverse stakeholders, according to the PM. PM Oli further said Sagarmatha’s pristine features count for much.
The climbing should be fair, he added. The event was also attended by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Pande, and the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Karki, among others.
