Nation has achieved great progress since replacing monarchy: PM Oli

May 29, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the nation has achieved great progress in good governance, transparency, and development since replacing centuries of autocratic monarchy.
Addressing a special program organised to mark the Republic Day 2025, PM Oli stressed that the republic ensured accountability and had driven advancements in education, health, infrastructure, and poverty reduction, aligning with the vision of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
PM Oli also paid heartfelt tribute to the thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their lives and those injured during the people’s movement, which secured the republic through immense struggle.
He said that their efforts ended a system of dictatorial decrees, replacing it with one where the people’s will governed, enabling citizens to freely elect over 36,000 representatives from diverse communities.
The PM contrasted the oppressive past, where dissent was silenced, with today’s freedom of speech, where citizens can openly express opinions and hold the government accountable.
PM Oli urged Nepalis to reflect on the republic’s achievements by comparing past and present development indicators, such as schools, hospitals, and roads, reaffirming the government’s commitment to tackling poverty and corruption through democratic processes.
