Japan boosts Nepal’s healthcare with Trauma Centre in Dhulikhel

May 26, Kathmandu: Dhulikhel Hospital and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed an agreement to build a 100-bed Trauma & Emergency Centre in Dhulikhel municipality-6, Nepal.

On May 16, Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Japan’s Parliamentary Vice Minister Ikuina Akiko finalized a 573-million-yen grant to support the project, supplementing a 3.29-billion-yen grant from 2023.

The additional funding addresses rising costs due to inflation, as confirmed by Japan’s embassy in Nepal. The centre will enhance medical services amid growing demand for stroke and heart disease treatment, driven by increased traffic and road expansion.

This initiative strengthens Nepal’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring better access to emergency care and supporting economic growth.

The Japanese embassy highlighted that the centre, equipped with modern facilities, will significantly improve healthcare quality in Nepal, marking a milestone in Nepal-Japan cooperation.
