Ambassadors’ Club, IRGDD, and The Diplomat Nepal launched in Kathmandu

May 18, Kathmandu: The Ambassadors’ Club, a platform for diplomatic collaboration, and the International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), a think tank for global policy discussions, were inaugurated on Sunday. The event also launched The Diplomat Nepal, the country’s first diplomatic magazine.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the chief guest, stressed the initiatives’ importance, stating, “Nepal must not remain on the sidelines.” Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, President of the Ambassadors’ Club and IRGDD, described it as “Nepal’s journey to global conversations.” The Ambassadors’ Club aims to connect diplomats to strengthen Nepal’s international ties.

Former Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey highlighted the think tank’s role in strategic engagement, while former Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala called the platforms “transformative” for addressing global issues. Rastriya Swatantra Party’s DP Aryal noted their potential to modernise diplomacy. Egypt’s Ambassador Noha Hamdy Ahmed praised Nepal’s diplomatic tradition, and UN Resident Coordinator Hana Singer Hamdy lauded the initiatives as “bold glimpses into the future.”

Dignitaries, including Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, unveiled The Diplomat Nepal and cut a ceremonial cake, marking a step toward amplifying Nepal’s diplomatic voice.
