UML top leaders bat for people-oriented budget
Kathmandu: The top leaders of the ruling CPN (UML) have deliberated on the topics and issues to be included in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.
At the meeting convened at the party’s central office at Chyasal, Lalitpur today, the top leaders suggested to make the upcoming budget people-oriented, said Dr Bhisma Adhikari, Secretary at the UML central office.
According to him, party’s Vice-Chairperson Ishwor Pokhrel, Vice-Chairpersons Yubaraj Gyawali, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Guru Baral and leaders such as Prithvi Subba Gurung and Padma Aryal among others advised that the budget should focus on boosting domestic production and make country self-reliant.
They also recommended that the budget should be centered on development of agriculture, industries and infrastructures among others.
Party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma was, however, remained absent in the meeting, said Dr Adhikari.
The meeting is an extension of the party’s secretariat’s meeting on May 4 where all secretariat members could not voice their views owing to time constraint, added Dr Adhikari.
