HoR continues deliberations on govt. policy and programme document

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) Members have shared their mixed views on the government’s policy and programmes document unveiled for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26. The ruling parties’ lawmakers termed it practical, pro-people and progressive, while the opposition lawmakers criticised it, citing that the policy and programmes lack grounds for implementation.

In the HoR meeting on Monday, Nepali Congress lawmaker Raju Thapa praised the policy and programmes and urged the political parties to unite to overcome the challenges in the implementation phase.

CPN (UML) lawmakers Amrit Lal Rajbanshi, Amrita Devi Agrahari and Basudev Ghimire seconded the policy and programmes and suggested that the government should align it with the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

UML lawmakers Ambar Bahadur Rayamajhi and Kiran Kumar Sah said the policy and programmes could ensure vitality to the nation’s economy since it is business-friendly and is likely to encourage internal and foreign investment.

However, lawmaker of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Shiva Nepali argued that the policy and programmes document has failed to offer a new guideline and its implementation part was weak.

The next meeting of the HoR is scheduled for 11:00 am, Tuesday.

Deliberations on the government’s policy and programmes shall continue in the upcoming meeting of the HoR as well.
