Kathmandu: The government and agitating resident doctors have signed a four-point agreement on Saturday.
After the agreement between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Nepal Medical Association, the agitating resident doctors withdrew from all their protest activities.
Ministry’s Dr Bhim Prasad Sapkota and Association’s General Secretary Sanjib Tiwari signed the deal.
As per the agreement, all the resident doctors undergoing a Master’s Degree in medical education in the private medical colleges would get the stipend equal to that of an 8th Level Health Officer being provided by the public medical institutions.
The private medical colleges would be directed to this end as per the decision of the Medical Education Commission taken on February 7.
Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Population would form a taskforce and submit its report within 15 working days regarding the day-off, duty hour, additional facilities and other issues of the resident doctors.
The Ministry would coordinate to ensure the ‘matching’ and admission or enrollment of all medical students in an integrated approach. Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel was also present in the talks.
