CM Acharya ensures efforts to enlist Jitgadhi fort in World Heritage

Lumbini, April 20: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, has assured that the provincial government would take initiatives to enlist the historic Jitgadhi Fort in the World Heritage Site.

Inaugurating the Jitgadhi Festival-2082 in Butwal on Sunday, CM Acharya reiterated that efforts would be made to give international recognition to the fort, which is a national pride. He further said the federal government would be prodded to declare Colonel Ujir Singh a national luminary because we can forget the devotion and sacrifice of such heroes.

It is essential to create an atmosphere where the martyrs are revered greatly and the new generation is made aware of their contribution to the national history.

The English soldiers were defeated by the Nepali warriors in the glorious history, he reminded, adding that the Jitgadhi Festival is marked to remember the Anglo-Nepal war where English soldiers lost to the Nepalis.
