Ruling CPN(UML)-Nepali Congress task force meeting this afternoon
April 16, Kathmandu: A joint task force meeting of the ruling parties, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, has been scheduled for Wednesday at 5 pm (revised time).
The meeting, to be attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, will discuss pressing issues including the ongoing teachers’ agitation, the budget session of parliament called for April 25, the School Education Bill to be passed by parliament, and other contemporary matters.
Sources indicate that the meeting will also address dissatisfaction publicly expressed by some Nepali Congress leaders toward the government. The task force meeting was convened following discussions between Prime Minister Oli and Congress President Deuba on Tuesday.
Representing UML in the task force are Senior Vice-Chairman Ishwar Pokharel, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and the Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal. From the Nepali Congress, the task force includes Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and Foreign Minister Arzu Rana.
