President Paudel stresses strengthening federal democratic republic improving economy

Bhaktapur, April 14: President Ramchandra Paudel has stressed the need of strengthening federal democratic republic by improving country’s economy.

At an inauguration of ‘Nagarkot Visit Year 2082’ organized at Batase Danda in Nagarkot today, President Paudel  said that it was a shared responsibility of all to strengthen federal democratic republic and fulfill people’s aspiration for speedy development.

“Tourism, agriculture, water resource, information technology and industry are the backbone of the country. It is responsibility of the State to formulate appropriate policy, laws and create conducive opportunity by resolving existing problems seen in the sectors for economic growth”, the President noted.

He further spoke the necessity of promoting industrialization by creating opportunity of employment, investment-friendly environment and reducing cost of the production”, he mentioned.

Pointing out the need of developing infrastructures in order to transform cultural, historical, religious heritages into economic development, President Paudel shared that there is immense potential of tourism sector to become the basis of income generation and prosperity by promoting uniqueness, natural beauty, culture and civilization of this area in Nepal and global tourism market.

He opined that Nagarkot located in the vicinity of Kathmandu Valley is surrounded by nature and has high potentials to attract tourists.

“I think collaboration among federation, province and specially four municipalities here is pivotal to make the place more developed and modern”, he added.

The President mentioned that Nagarkot is classified in the list of one of the preferred tourism destinations of domestic and foreign tourists due to panoramic view of beautiful mountain range, sunrise and sunset views.

Stating that it is commendable for all the four municipalities to move forward to promote the heritage and historical sites of their respective areas by making Nagarkot a focal point, President Paudel said it is necessary to pay attentions to the expansion of tourism infrastructure and upgrading of roads for easy movement in the areas.

President Paudel wished that the day (Nepali New Year) should inspire all to join the nation-building campaign for peace, sustainable development, inclusive society, economic prosperity and strengthening of the federal democratic republic.

Addressing the same event, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey highlighted the importance of historical, heritage and tourist places of Nagarkot.

He said that tourism will be developed in Dhulikhel, Panauti, Namobuddha, Shivpuri and Chandragiri along with the four municipalities associated with this area.

Tourism sector, which was devastated after the earthquake and Corona epidemic, has seen gradual improvements lately, he said, adding that the government is moving forward to create an economic growth and investment-friendly environment by engaging the three tiers of government.

Gokul Banskota, a member of House of Representatives and former minister, said that Nagarkot is not only to see the Himalayas, sunrise and sunset, but also to start ‘sky tourism’ and water tourism in Kavre.

Minister of Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province, Bimal Thakuri, said that the visit would be a milestone for bringing tourists to Nagarkot.

Changunarayan Municipality Mayor Jeevan Khatri opined that the visit year, which has Nagarkot as the focal point, would accelerate economic development in the country.

He said that Nagarkot should be declared a tourist hub by the government.

Mandan Deupur Municipality Mayor Tok Bahadur Waiba and Banepa Municipality Mayor Shantiratna Shakya expressed their confidence that the visit, jointly organized by Changunarayan, Mandan Deupur, Banepa and Shankharapur municipalities, would contribute to the economic development of the area.
