Chandrashekhar’s contribution significant in Nepal’s democracy: NC President Deuba

 

Kathmandu, April 7: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said former Prime Minister of India, Chandrashekhar, had a great contribution to establishing democracy in Nepal.

At a programme organized by Ganesh Man Singh Foundation here on Monday, President Deuba shared, “Former Indian Prime Minister Chandrashekhar had raised voice about Nepal’s democracy not only in Nepal, even in India.

The movement held to establish democracy became enthusiastic after the arrival of Chandrashekhar to Nepal.” Stating that Nepal always has respect and harmony towards Chandrashekhar, former Prime Minister Deuba mentioned that India has goodwill towards Nepal’s republican system.

‘Chandrashekhar had very warm and close relations with Nepali Congress leaders—BP Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, among others, he argued.

Sharing that the open borders between Nepal and India have clarified the importance of a strong relationship between the two countries, the NC President added that there is close relations between the people of both countries.
