April 2, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, on a five-day official visit to Thailand since April 1, announced that the trip has enhanced bilateral relations. After meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Wednesday, the PM expressed confidence that cooperation in culture, tourism, education, and energy will grow.
During the joint press conference, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of the 65-year diplomatic ties between Nepal and Thailand, calling for increased investments in Nepal’s hospitality and air services. He encouraged Thai businesses to invest in Nepal, noting the strong connections in agriculture, trade, and tourism.
The PM also invited Prime Minister Shinawatra to visit Nepal, with plans to implement this soon. This visit marks the first official trip by a Nepali Prime Minister to Thailand, following Thailand’s Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda’s visit to Nepal in 1983.
Accompanying Prime Minister Oli is a 21-member delegation, including his spouse Radhika Shakya and various officials. The Prime Minister will return to Nepal on April 5.
