Radio Nepal’s 75th Anniversary: Interaction and Classical Music Conference

Kathmandu: A classical music Conference was organized today on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Public Service Broadcasting, Radio Nepal.

In the interaction, the artists suggested that Radio Nepal, as a public service broadcaster, should play a leading role in the field of songs and music.

Since Radio Nepal has been playing an important role in the development of information, communication, literature and music since its establishment, the artists should work more to preserve it in the coming days.

Similarly, the artists suggested that they should emphasize the collection and preservation of endangered songs and music, make song recordings regular, increase public participation-oriented and competitive programs, and that the ownership of the works recorded and produced by Radio Nepal should remain with Radio Nepal.

In the interaction, Lochan Bhattarai, Narayan Rayamajhi, Bhupendra Rayamajhi, Bulu Mukarung, Mira Rana, Dhan Bahadur Gopali, Prof. Dr. Dhruvesh Chandra Regmi, among others, expressed the view that since classical music is the basis of all music, classical music-related programs should be increased.

Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Radhika Aryal, expressed confidence that Radio Nepal would further progress in the new structure of public service broadcasting and suggested focusing on creating broadcast content that would resonate with the people.

In the interaction, Executive Chairperson of Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Dr. Mahendra Bista said that he has expressed his commitment to collaborate with creators for the protection and development of songs and music.

Executive Chairman Bista stated that suggestions and advice from artists will always be welcome for Radio Nepal and requested the cooperation of creators even in matters related to royalty.

PSB Board of Directors Member Phulman Bal stated that Radio Nepal will emphasize the development of original Nepali songs and music and said that it will move forward by implementing the suggestions and advice of artists.

Deputy Executive Director of Radio Nepal, Khagendra Khatri, said that since there is a mutually dependent relationship between artists and Radio Nepal, cooperation should be increased.
