Tourism business partnership meeting held between Pokhara and Chongqing

March 24, Kathmandu: A Business-to-Business (B2B) partnership meeting and “Sales Mission” was organized between tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara, Nepal, and Chongqing, Sichuan Province in Chongqing. The event highlighted the potential for enhanced tourism collaboration if Sichuan Airlines’ flights between the two cities operate regularly.

Chongqing tourism representatives noted the geographical similarities between the two cities and pledged efforts to bring tourists to Pokhara. Wang Hao, Deputy Director General of the local Culture and Tourism Development Commission, expressed enthusiasm for strengthening tourism ties with Pokhara, emphasizing the 70-year diplomatic relationship between Nepal and China.

Shivaraj Chaulagain, Chief Administrative Officer of Pokhara Metropolitan City, promoted Pokhara’s unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure tourism, urging Chongqing residents to visit. He assured full support to make Pokhara-Chengdu flights successful and announced special discount packages for Pokhara Tourism Year.

Maniraj Lamichhane, head of the Nepal Tourism Board’s Gandaki Province, highlighted Pokhara’s appeal to Chinese tourists and its adequate infrastructure, with plans for further development.

The event, organized by the Nepal Tourism Board in collaboration with the Pokhara Tourism Council and the Chengdu Consulate General, followed promotional activities in Chengdu and Luzhou by Pokhara’s tourism delegation, who arrived in Chongqing via the first commercial chartered flight from Pokhara International Airport.
