Maoist Centre Chair calls for addressing teachers’ demands at earliest

March 15, Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed that the government should address the demands of the agitating teachers at the earliest.

In a meeting with a delegation of the Nepal Teachers’ Federation in Kathmandu on Saturday, the Maoist Centre Chair said the justified demands of the teachers should not be neglected.

The Federation is currently agitating and calling for the immediate passage of the School Education Bill from parliament.

Maoist Centre Chair Dahal pointed out that despite the numerous amendment proposals on the Bill, all of the amendments were similar in nature without anything concrete.

He suggested that forming a sub-committee could facilitate the immediate passage of the bill, stressing that the key requirement was willingness on the government’s part.

Chair Dahal called on the government to prioritize the concerns of education and teachers, highlighting the lack of a common understanding regarding the demands of teachers and the broader education sector.
