Snowfall blankets Bajura’s high-altitude areas

March 1, Kathmandu: The historic and scenic tourist destination of Porkhe Gadhi, along with other high-altitude areas of Bajura, has experienced its fifth snowfall of the year.

The snowfall, accompanied by rainfall that began on Thursday afternoon, has transformed the region’s towering mountains into a stunning white spectacle. The snow-covered landscapes of Porkhe Gadhi and its surrounding alpine meadows have become even more enchanting, drawing attention for their breathtaking beauty.

Porkhe Gadhi, located on the border of Badimalika and Budhinanda municipalities in Bajura district, is regarded as one of Nepal’s historically and culturally significant forts. With this latest snowfall—the fifth this season—the area has seen a noticeable increase in domestic tourists eager to witness its winter charm.

The precipitation, which started on Thursday and continued unabated into Saturday morning, has affected daily life for local residents in Bajura’s high-altitude regions. Despite disruptions, farmers are optimistic, expressing joy over the promise of a bountiful winter crop season due to the ample moisture brought by the snow and rain.

The snow-draped peaks and picturesque scenery of Porkhe Gadhi and nearby areas continue to highlight Bajura’s appeal as an emerging destination for nature lovers and cultural explorers alike.
