Tripitaka recitation to take place in Lumbini for six days
Kathmandu, Feb 25: The All Nepal Bhikkhu Association is scheduled to organize a Tripitaka recitation event in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, from March 4 to 9.
The event aims to promote the country’s religious tourism and further publicize Buddhist literature nationally and internationally. It will be held on the premises of the Maya Devi Temple.
The Tripitaka is a collection of Buddha’s teachings delivered over the course of approximately 45 years following his enlightenment. The religious scripture is divided into three main categories: Abhidharma, Sutra, and Vinaya, and it holds significant importance within Buddhist literature.
Bhikkhus, Buddhist leaders, and followers from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan are expected to attend the event.
