RSS marks 64th anniversary today
Kathmandu, Feb 19: President Ramchandra Paudel has praised the efforts of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) in expanding its services and upholding journalistic integrity.
In his message on the 64th anniversary of RSS, President Paudel emphasized its role in providing credible and reliable news while safeguarding the public’s right to information. He also acknowledged RSS’s initiatives, including the addition of Awadhi, Maithili, and Newari news services, photo and visual content, book publications, and 24-hour news updates.
Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav highlighted the need for RSS to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities and promote cultural diversity. He urged the agency to strengthen its role in investigative journalism while maintaining political neutrality.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli praised RSS’s efforts to diversify its services beyond Nepali and English, reinforcing its relevance. Extending his best wishes, he assured government support for the agency’s legal and structural improvements. He noted that RSS’s responsibility has increased in educating the public through fact-based, credible, and authentic journalism.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire emphasized that RSS must uphold journalistic integrity by embracing new technologies. He commended its role in disseminating factual and credible news as Nepal’s national news agency.
Similarly, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal lauded RSS for promoting transparency and informing citizens about the parliamentary system.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stressed the need for RSS to enhance its effectiveness as a news source and better support the media. Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Radhika Aryal, urged RSS to remain dedicated to connecting all levels of society through responsible journalism.
Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari highlighted RSS’s role in delivering official state news and strengthening its international presence. She expressed her best wishes for its continued growth and expansion.
As Nepal’s national news agency, RSS has played a key role in independent journalism and public awareness, contributing to democratic values and good governance.
