On Air Station:

Call to protect uniqueness of Pathibhara

Kathmandu: The stakeholders have demanded that the unique features of religious and cultural site, Pathibhara, be protected.

At an interaction organized by the Yuma Mang Mukkumlung Pathibhara Protection Coordination Committee here Thursday, speakers expressed concerns about the attempts made to demolish the unique, religious and cultural identities of the sites in the name of physical infrastructure development.

They argued that Pathibhara should not be publicized just merely as a geographic site while terming it as a holy site for Sanatan religious groups from across the world. Mukkumlung Protection Campaigner Chandrahang Kirat said that the priest and the Phatibhara Temple Area Management Committee were forced to remain silent.

Likewise, researcher of religious sites Bhim Pandey said a powerful network was required to protect the religious and cultural heritages in the country. The speakers also claimed that efforts were ongoing in the country to destroy the sites of Eastern philosophy and civilization.

Chairman of the World Hindu Youth Federation Rishikesh Jung Shah said the plan to construct cable cars in the Pathibhara area should be scrapped.

Former member of Bagmati Province Assembly Jiban Dangol, Chairman of Hindu Jagaran Nepal Ramkrishna Upadhyay and other speakers called for awakening to protect the religious and cultural sites in the country.
