Amit Jha Literature Music Prize offered to Gurudev Kamat
Mahendranagar (Dhanusha), Feb 7: This year’s Amit Jha Literature Music Prize was given away to noted classical musician late Gurudev Kamat posthumously.
During the inaugural session of the Sixth Janakpur Literature Festival on Thursday, Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Satish Kumar Singh and late Amit Jha’s father Ramnarayan Jha provided the prize to Sagunwati Devi Kamat, the spouse of late Gurudev Kamat.
The prize carries a purse of Rs 105,000 in cash. The Amit Jha Literature Music Prize is being presented to individuals every year in recognition of their contributions to the fields of literature and music. Late Kamat, who died some six months ago, has left lasting contributions to Nepal’s classical music.
Likewise, musician Ashok Dutta, a cancer patient, was provided Rs 51,000 for his treatment. —RSS
