Pathibhara Cable Car Dispute: 6-point agreement

Kathmandu: An agreement has been reached regarding the dispute over the construction of a cable car in Mukkumlung Pathibhara in Taplejung district.

A six-point agreement was reached late Tuesday night between the government of Nepal, the Home Ministry, and the Negotiation Facilitation Committee, which is made up of representatives from related organizations. The agreement states that construction work on the Pathibhara Cable Car station will be suspended and detailed discussions will be held regarding the station during the talks to be held on February 10.

As announced by the government, it has been agreed to provide free and effective medical treatment to those injured during the protest, investigate the incident of January 25 and take legal action, initiate the process of immediate and unconditional release of those detained during the protest, and suspend the indefinite transport shutdown by the Mukkumalung protectorate.

Similarly, the Ministry of Home Affairs has informed that it has been agreed to hold talks at 11:00 am on February 10 to discuss in detail the issues including disagreements in the construction of the Pathibhara Cable Car Project, which were demanded during the talks by the Mukkumalung protectors.

The agreement was signed by the coordinator of the government negotiation team, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, and Saraswati Singak (Saru) of the Negotiation Facilitation Committee on behalf of the agitating parties.
