6th Janakpur Literature Festival from Feb 6

Janakpur: The 6th Janakpur Literature Festival is to be held here starting Thursday.

The three-day festival organized by the Nawa Mithila Foundation is being held this year under the theme ‘Celebration of Roots, Culture and Traditions’.

Foundation chair Amit Kumar Sah said that the festival plans to hold various sessions covering the literary, cultural and social awakening of Mithila. He said that the festival aims to exchange rich knowledge through in-depth discussions, debates and critiques on various aspects of literature and society.

There will be 14 panel discussions and three solo discourse programs along with musical events. The festival will feature various sub-themes including ‘Challenges and Opportunities of Janakpurdham’, ‘Reading Culture in the Digital Age’, ‘Cricket: Problems, Solutions and Prospects’, ‘Madhes Glory: Commercialization of Festivals’, ‘Nepal’s Foreign Policy and Borders’, Constitution, Federalism and Practice of the Rule of Law’.

According to the organisers the ‘Amit Jha Literature and Music Award’ will be presented to the family of classical musician late Gurudev Kamat on the last day of the festival.
