Govt. decides to present Bill designed to regulate Social Networking Sites in parliament

Kathmandu: The Bill designed to provide for the operation, use and regulation of social networking sites, 2081 BS is to be tabled in the federal parliament.

Unveiling the decisions of the cabinet meeting held on January 20 at a news conference organized at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Wednesday, Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung shared that the Communications Ministry has been approved to table the bill before the federal parliament.

The government also decided to approve procedures related to supplementary grants and procedures related to special grants, 2081 BS as well as to scrap procedures related to Joint-investment, 2077 BS and procedures to hand over cash to poor families affected by COVID-19.

Also, the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Gurung said the cabinet decided to nominate Joint-Secretary of the Finance Ministry, Shree Krishna Nepal, to the post of Alternate Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank as well as to grant permission to develop and operate Block ‘B’ and Block ‘C’ of the Simara Special Economic Zone under public, private and partnership (PPP) model. Similarly, permission was granted to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya to participate in an international conference scheduled from January 23-26 in New Delhi, India.

A decision was taken to permit in principle to formulation of a bill designed to make arrangements regarding land and immovable property acquisition and to extend the term of the recommendation committee formed to appoint the Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority by 35 days.

Likewise, the cabinet decided to assign duties to the Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Arjun Prasad Pokharel, until his appointment to chairperson of the National Cooperative Regulation Authority, as well as to transfer Secretary of the Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP), Lokraj Parajuli, to the post of Deputy Attorney General at the Office of Attorney General, and Deputy Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General, Khem Raj Gyawali, to the post of Secretary at the CIEDP, shared Minister Gurung.
