Mahankal Rural Municipality Vice Chair Gole bags International Women’s Leadership Award
January 20, Kathmandu: Dolma Maya Gole, Vice Chair of Mahankal Rural Municipality in Lalitpur, has been honored with the “International Women’s Leadership Award” by the International Awards Forum (TIAF) USA. The award was presented during a special ceremony held in New Delhi, India, on January 19, as confirmed by the Mahankal Rural Municipality.
This award acknowledges Gole’s significant contributions in policy planning, program development, budget formulation, and the conservation of agriculture, ecosystems, religion, and culture. Her efforts have particularly focused on addressing issues related to women, children, and senior citizens, according to the local government. She was also recognized for her active role in search, rescue, and relief operations following the disasters caused by unexpected rains on September 27-28 of the previous year, which resulted in 13 fatalities and left one person missing in the rural municipality. Additionally, 300 families were displaced due to the disaster.
