Prime Minister Cup Cricket: Koshi triumphs over Bagmati
Baitadi: The Group B matches under the Prime Minister Cup T20- Women National Cricket Tournament have kicked off in Baitadi.
The Koshi Province won the opening match of the Group B against the Bagmati Province by 10 runs. The match was shortened to 13 overs due to adverse weather and in the course of chasing a 64-run target, Bagmati was restricted to 53 in 12.1 overs.
Sabika Yadav and Bipasha Shahi were not out with 20 and 12 runs respectively. For Koshi, Captain Rubina Chhetri, Jyoti Danuwar and Sangita Rai each took two wickets.
Losing the toss, Koshi was invited to bat first at the Phapla Cricket Ground, scoring 63 in 13 overs at the loss of seven wickets. Bimala Malaha was not out with 19 while Captain Rubina Chhetri contributed 15 to the teams. Manisha Upadhaya of Bagmati took four wickets, becoming the first player in the match to achieve this feat. Rubina won the title of the Player of the Match.
From Group A, the Armed Police Force and the Sudurpaschim have already secured the berths in the top four. The tournament, underway since January 14, has been attended by nine teams.
The team winning the title will receive a cash prize of Rs 500,000 while the first runner-up team will bag Rs 300,000 and the Player of the Series will get Rs 50,000. Players winning the titles of the ‘Outstanding Batter’ and the ‘Outstanding Bowler’ will be awarded Rs 25,000 each.
