Chair Dahal pledges initiative for developing Api-Himal rural municipality
Kathmandu, Jan 8: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he would take the initiative for the development of Api-Himal rural municipality in the Darchula district.
In a meeting with the people’s representatives from the Api-Himal rural municipality and political parties’ representatives at his residence in Lalitpur on Wednesday, Chairman Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, assured development works in the rural municipality of the far west district. The rural municipality is named after the highest mountain in the far west, Api Mountain.
He also vowed to increase the budget to the local level. Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to coordinate efforts with public agencies such as the Nepal Tourism Board and the Nepal Electricity Authority for the promotion of tourism and expansion of electricity in this region, noting the tourism potential of this area.
During the meeting, the visiting delegation raised concerns about the infrastructure development, including the expansion of the road network in the region. They urged Dahal for his positive intervention in allocating sufficient budget to complete the remaining 10 km of road leading to the district headquarters from their rural municipality.
They also called for his assistance in the expansion of electricity in all wards and human settlements within the rural municipality. Central-level intervention was also sought for the division of relatively bigger wards, e.g., ward no. 3, into more units for effective public service delivery.
On the occasion, a three-point memorandum signed by Apihimal rural municipality Chairman Bhakta Singh Thekare Bohora, its Vice-Chairperson Devika Devi Bohora, and the ward chairperson of all wards within the local municipality was handed over to Dahal. —RSS
