Open competition announced to design PSB Nepal’s logo

Kathmandu: Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal is set to select a new logo through an open competition following the merger of Nepal Television and Radio Nepal into a single public service broadcaster.

The PSB Nepal Board of Directors, in a decision made on December 29, 2024, has announced a call for applications from individuals, firms, companies, associations, and organizations interested in designing the new logo.

Applicants are required to submit a registration certificate and a tax payment receipt (for companies and organizations), or a Nepali citizenship certificate (for individuals), along with their applications.

According to a notice published in Gorkhapatra on January 1, interested applicants must submit their entries by January 7, 2025. Submissions should be sent via email to Radio Nepal and Nepal Television, the secretariat of PSB Nepal, at rne@radionepal.gov.np.

The PSB Nepal Secretariat has stated that the logo creation process will proceed based on the organization’s concept, after compiling a list of applicants. The logo will be designed through a competitive process, reflecting the values of public service broadcasting for the citizens.

PSB Nepal Chairman, Dr. Mahendra Bista, emphasized that this initiative is meant to encourage public ownership of the newly formed broadcaster, connecting with the sentiments of Nepali citizens towards public service media.

Dr. Bista also mentioned that a list of applicants will be prepared, and following conceptual discussions, the final logo will be selected through a competitive process. An attractive prize will be awarded to the designer of the logo chosen by the jury.

Currently, PSB Nepal is focused on internal restructuring, including transforming the content and technical infrastructure of Nepal Television and Radio Nepal.

Efforts are also underway to develop new programming, orient employees, and establish the necessary rules, regulations, and laws for the organization’s future operations.
