Swarnalaxmi Cooperatives: Police submit report to district attorney
Kathmandu, Jan 2: The District Police Office, Kathmandu, on Thursday submitted its report to the District Attorney Office, Kathmandu, on the investigation of embezzlement of deposits in Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperatives of Kalimati.
The police report has argued that 44 persons, including the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, could be sued, according to the spokesperson at the Kathmandu District Police Sector, Nawaraj Adhikari.
In the investigation report, the police have demanded the recovery of Rs 1.19 billion from the defendants. The fraud was committed in an organized manner, the police argued. In the fraud on the Swarnalaxmi Cooperatives fund, 44 persons have been issued arrest warrants.
Meanwhile, the District Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, informed that it would study the report and proceed with prosecution accordingly. —RSS
