Sichuan Airlines brings 126 Chinese tourists to Pokhara for dragon boat race

Pokhara, Nepal – Sichuan Airlines has successfully operated a charter flight from Chengdu, China, bringing 126 passengers to Pokhara International Airport. The Chinese delegation is in Nepal to participate in the second International Dragon Boat Race, scheduled for December 29 and 30 at Fewa Lake.  This event is jointly organized by Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy, and the Dragon Boat Association to celebrate the upcoming New Year.

The inaugural Dragon Boat Festival in Nepal took place in 2023. As Pokhara International Airport approaches its second anniversary on January 1, the airport authority has expressed hope that these charter flights will pave the way for regular international flights. Sichuan Airlines has now operated three charter flights to Pokhara, while a total of seven charter flights and three other international flights have been completed, with passengers arriving from China, Bhutan, and India.

These charter flights have brought a renewed sense of optimism to the airport, indicating a growing interest in international travel to Pokhara.
