Pilgrims movement increase in Pathibhara after the blocked road section comes into operation

Taplejung: The number of pilgrims has been increasing in Pathibhara, Temple of Taplejung, as the road has been reopened after its repair.

Local hoteliers and transporters are also excited after the road to Pathibhara Temple in Taplejung has been temporarily reopened. With the opening of the Mechi Highway, Tamor Corridor, and Panchthar road sections, which were blocked due to continuous rains, there has been an increase in the activity of the pilgrims.

Around 400 pilgrims visited the temple on Monday alone, said Rajendra Mahat, an employee of the Pathibhara temple. According to local hoteliers, bookings for accommodation and food are being made for pilgrims in hotels located in the upper Phedi area.

After the road reopened at the end of Dasain, local businessmen are welcoming the arrival of the pilgrims and are preparing for their convenience.

Due to continuous rain, traffic has been stopped in various sections since the 27th of September. Direct traffic between Panchthar and Taplejung was stopped after the Beli bridge was washed away in Henvakhola, while the water level in Tamor Corridor’s Navakhola also became difficult to operate.

The resumption of traffic was difficult as landslides washed away roads in the Ramite and Rajduwali sections.

At present, traffic and business have started to pick up after the construction of the temporary diversions. During Navratri, the number of pilgrims in the Pathibhara temple decreased due to road closure.
