Parliamentarians see dialogues and meetings among major political parties in positive light

Kathmandu: Parliamentarians from both ruling and opposition parties have viewed the major political parties’ holding meetings and talks in a positive light.

Speaking during the ‘special hour’ of today’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, Nepali Congress’s Deepak Giri said that the intense dialogues among the major political parties in recent days had installed hopes. He emphasized consensus and collaboration among the political parties for political stability.

Giri commented that it was not a good indication that more than half of the SEE (Secondary Education Examinations) students failed the exam and thus called for an improvement in the declining education quality in the schools.

He also demanded that provisions be made for all school-going age children to avail basic and quality education. He pressed for the expansion of the runway at Tarigaun Airport in the Dang district.

Similarly, Madhav Sapkota of CPN (Maoist Centre) remarked that the talks being held among the high-ranking leaders of major political parties were a positive thing. Stating that the political bitterness among the major political parties could not resolve the country’s issue, he expressed his confidence that the consensus and collaboration among the political leaders could catalyze the country’s welfare and further advance the journey of economic prosperity.

He also drew the attention of the government through the Speaker of the House and stakeholders to conclude the remaining works of the peace process at the earliest.

Likewise, Leelanath Shrestha of CPN (UML) underscored the implementation of the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ (BRI) Project keeping national interest and development in the centre. Projects in hydropower and railway among other sectors would contribute to the economic development of the country, he claimed.

Stating that massive debates were being waged on agreements inked between Nepal and India and Nepal and China in recent times, he highlighted the need to bring those agreements into effect based on the national consensus.
