Teachers honoured on the 24th foundation day of Rotary Club of Kantipur


Kathmandu: On the occasion of its 24th foundation day, the Rotary Club of Kantipur Kathmandu today honoured two teachers who have made special contributions to the overall development and prosperity of primary-level students in Nepal with the ‘Rotary Club Kantipur-Sushila Kiran Pyakuryal’ award.

Rotary Club of Kantipur and the club’s former president Kiran Nath Pyakuryal and his wife Sushila Pyakuryal established this year under the Akshay Kosh, community schools within the Kathmandu Valley and schools affiliated to the Rotary Club Kantipur-Urmila Vyas scholarship were included for the award.

Under this award, the best male and female teachers each working at the primary level have been awarded with a certificate of excellence and one hundred thousand rupees in cash every year as an incentive.

This year, Kalpana Joshi, a teacher working in Shree Kankali Secondary School, Chandragiri-13, Kathmandu and Bijay Bogti, a teacher working in Shree Sundaradevi Basic School, Bidur-7, Tupche, Nuwakot, were awarded for their outstanding contribution to the overall development of primary level children.

In the honour program, the founder of the fund, Kiran Pyakurel, said that he has been working in the field of education since he was working in the United Nations.

He also said that he and his wife were satisfied that they were able to establish an award as an incentive for the teachers who are continuously active in the field of education despite living in remote areas.

Rotary of Club Kantipur has been working in the fields of education, health and disaster relief.
