MP’s raise concerns regarding safety of workers
February 29, Kathmandu: Parliamentarians have said that the industry owners have not paid attention to the occupational safety of the workers working in the iron industry
In Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committees, the members emphasized that the industry should give priority to the issue of the safety of workers’ livelihood. They also raised the attention of the government.
The parliamentarians said that bringing workers from neighbouring countries to work in Nepal’s iron industry and putting those workers’ lives at risk was a serious matter.
They said that the government should be serious about the injustice done to foreign workers by the iron industry operating in Nepal and stated that one should not play with people’s lives even if they are citizens of any other country.
